Our glass coffee table exploded while we were at work. Because the table was glued to silver rounds other glass places did not want to touch the work. The staff member Mitzi was so helpful when I enquired and they found a solution, made to new top with an added suggestion of rounding the corners to help mitigate any future issues. She was amazing with her communication throughout the process. I would recommend with no hesitation, thank you again.

We had an emergency glass door breakage at our bach. I phoned Auckland Glass after hours on Saturday and they sent a glassier within 3 hours to our Piha property, and he was able to fit a temporary glass, making the place secure and weather proof and also cleaned up and took the broken glass away. They had to then order the lower pane which was a special ribbed glass, and were able to return and fit both glass, with putty. We had a booking starting the next day so you can imagine the relief. Great Service and workmanship, would highly recommend this company. Iain

Jarod was amazingly helpful to us. He listened, discussed solutions and researched options. Jarod followed up quickly and completed our glass order within our tight time frame. When it came time to pickup the glass Jarod assisted with loading and we worked together to arrange delivery options for the bigger items. Jarod is the man to see for superior customer service. Also a very nice guy. Very patient and accomodating. Thankyou Jarod Robert and Jos Adams

THANK YOU SO SO MUCH for sending such a GREAT Glazier. He has done a fabulous job and didn't even take a lunch break. While he was here all he accepted was a cup of coffee and a glass of water. He didn't touch the fruit or soft drink I left for him - he just kept on working. He certainly is a FABULOUS worker, you should be proud of him.

All Types

Swinging, folding or sliding glass doors

All options are available in aluminium joinery, with single or double glazing, in clear, Low-E, laminated, toughened or obscure glass. Interior glass doors are available too. Every door is measured on site and quoted as a complete install.

Glass Ranch Sliders & Sliding Doors

The Kiwi classic. Wide panels glide on heavy-duty rollers for indoor-outdoor flow. Stacker sliders park the panels into one tower of glass, and frameless options keep the frame to a bare minimum.

Hinged & French Doors

Single or double leaf on traditional or hidden hardware. The classic choice for front doors, lounge access and bedrooms. Including glazed entry doors with privacy, security or performance glass.

Glass Bifold & Pivot Doors

Bifolds fold back panel by panel to open a whole wall; pivots swing on a single axis for a dramatic entry. Ideal for decks and open-plan living.
Made to code

Consent, compliance & safety glass

Every glass door and window we fit is measured, specified and installed to meet New Zealand Building Code requirements. And we will advise you up front whether your project needs consent.

  1. Safety glass to F2.3.3, for glazing in doors and adjacent panels in human-impact areas. Toughened or laminated as specified.
  2. Building consent, for structural changes: replacing a door in an existing opening usually needs none, but new or widened openings generally do. We flag it in your quote.
  3. WEERS rating system, for glazing performance: when you want a rated unit, we specify to the six-star WEERS scale.
  4. Installed to WGANZ specs, for weathertightness: correct fixing, drainage and flashing so your joinery survives Auckland exposure.
Glass Types Explained

There's more to glass than you might think

Depending on your requirements we offer options for toughened security glass, improved insulation, and obscured glass for privacy. We match the glass to your room, your view and your budget.

  1. Laminated glass: Two panes bonded around a tough inner film; it stays in place if broken. The top choice for security glass.
  2. Low-E & double glazing: Low-E reflects heat back inside. Double glazing halves heat loss versus single glazing (MBIE). Our standard upgrade for Auckland homes.
  3. Obscure, reeded, frosted & one-way: Allows light in, but blurs the view. Privacy for bathrooms and front doors, with tinted options to cut glare.

Comparing options

Glass sliding vs stacker vs bifold doors

There is no universal “best” option. The right door is the one that fits how you live. If you are torn, send us photos and your rough opening width; we will recommend one configuration and quote the other two.

NEED TO KNOW

FAQs about Glass Doors & Windows

  • For a typical double-glazed ranch slider, expect roughly $6,000 to $12,500 installed; hinged glass doors around $1,500 to $4,000; and bifolds around $1,800 to $3,500 per panel. These are guidance ranges only. The real quote depends on size, glazing, hardware and site access. Contact us for an itemised, no-obligation quote.

  • “Glazed” simply means the door has glass in it. The real difference is specification: a properly glazed door uses toughened or laminated safety glass (Building Code F2.3.3), double glazing with Low-E where needed, sealed units and weather-proven hardware. Some suppliers sell you a pane of glass; we specify, make and install the whole door.

  • Honestly: they cost more than solid doors, single-glazed units lose heat quickly, and the frames rely on seals and drains being maintained. The fix to this is double glazing and Low-E glass to cut heat loss dramatically, and modern drainage systems which handle Auckland rain when fitted to WGANZ installation specifications.

  • Often, yes. Existing hinged doors and ranch sliders can be re-glazed: single glazing upgraded to double, damaged glass replaced, or clear glass swapped for obscure glass for privacy. If the frame is failing or the opening is changing, a replacement unit is usually better value. A quick measure settles it.

  • Replacing a door or window in an existing opening generally does not need building consent in Auckland, as long as the opening and structure stay the same. New openings, widening, or removing walls usually do. We flag this in your quote and point you to your council or canibuildit to confirm.

  • Toughened glass is heat-treated so it breaks into small, less dangerous fragments. This is the usual safety glass in doors. Laminated glass bonds a tough film between two panes, so it stays in place if broken. This is better for security and overhead risks. Both can satisfy Building Code F2.3.3, depending on where they are used.

  • Low-E stands for Low-emissivity. Low-E glass has an invisible microscopic coating that reflects heat back into the room. EECA says Low-E can cut heat loss through windows by up to 30%. Low-E is our standard upgrade when double glazing an Auckland home.

  • Yes. This is one-way (mirror) glass. In daylight, people outside mainly see their own reflection while you see out. In low evening light the effect can reverse, so we pair it with blinds or window film for full privacy. Obscure, frosted and reeded glass are the always-private options.

  • Start with the easy checks: clear the weepholes in the bottom track and make sure the drains are not blocked which that is the cause of most water-in-sill leaks. Worn weather seals and silicone mitre joints are the next suspects. If the unit is draining wrong, we can usually reseal or adjust it without a full replacement. Book a measure and we will inspect on site.

  • Yes. We can install internal sliding, hinged, panel and pivot glass doors (clear, frosted or reeded) for hallways, studies, bathrooms and open-plan rooms. We measure, supply, install and finish, and they can usually be quoted alongside any windows and joinery in the same visit.
