Usually if glass is cracked the pane will need replacing. Cracks that run edge to edge, or larger damage, usually need a full replacement. Our glaziers will assess the damage on site and give you a clear recommendation. We'd rather repair a pane than replace it if it will hold safely.
Yes. In most cases we replace only the broken pane and leave your existing frame in place. That's the most cost-effective option, and it's what the majority of our Auckland glass repair jobs involve. If the frame itself is rotten or corroded, we'll flag that in the quote so you can decide how far to go.
Glass pricing varies with type, thickness and size. As a guide in Auckland, a standard single window pane replacement usually ranges from around $300–$600/m2, and double-glazed unit replacements start from about $650/m2 including labour, materials, travel & install.

Under New Zealand building requirements, glass in certain high risk positions must be safety glass. For example, in or near doors, in low-level windows, and in showers or balustrades. When we quote, we check the position and tell you whether toughened or laminated safety glass is required, so your replacement is compliant as well as fixed.
